Immanuel is pleased to offer voluntary supplemental insurance plans to provide you with cash benefits for eligible health conditions and medical situations. Accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity insurance coverage is available to help cover the extra expenses that can quickly pile up when you're sick or injured. Effective 01/01/2024 voluntary products are switching vendors Allstate to Reliance Matrix.

Accident Insurance

Just as it sounds, accident insurance is designed to help you pay for costs you may incur after an accidental injury. This benefit is paid regardless of any other coverage you might have, including health insurance. Here are the key benefits:

  • The plan covers a wide range of accidental injuries and medical services. Concussions, burns, fractures and dislocations can result in many medical expenses. Accident insurance pays a benefit for the covered injury and related services, from the ambulance ride to the ER visit, surgery, hospital stay and follow-up care.

  • Your benefit is paid directly to you, not your medical provider. Use it to pay for anything you like, from your deductible, copays or other out-of-pocket medical expenses, to childcare, house cleaning, groceries or utility bills.

  • You'll receive an additional 25 percent if your child is injured during an organized youth activity. Whether it's a football game, volleyball match or dance class, the plan will pay you an extra 25 percent of the total amount on top of your benefit.

  • The insurance is portable. You may be able to continue your policy by direct bill if your employment ends, the group policy terminates or you no longer meet eligibility guidelines.

Critical Illness Insurance

Critical illness can strike at any time. You may know of friends or family members who have suffered from a heart attack or stroke, but you may not be aware of the financial strain major health issues can cause. While your health insurance may cover many of the direct costs associated with the illness, many expenses aren't covered, like copays, deductibles, loss of income and childcare. A critical illness plan can help fill those gaps. Here's what you need to know:

  • Critical illness insurance pays you a fixed lump sum if you are diagnosed with a serious medical condition. Depending on where you live, the plan covers a variety of illnesses and childhood diseases. After you elect the amount of the maximum benefit you want to receive — $10,000, $20,000 or $30,000 — you may enroll your spouse/domestic partner and your children.

  • Your benefit is paid directly to you, not your medical provider. Use it to pay for anything you like, from your deductible, copays or other out-of-pocket medical expenses, to childcare, house cleaning, groceries or utility bills.

  • You'll receive an additional benefit if the illness reoccurs. If you are diagnosed with a critical illness and are later diagnosed again with the same disease, a one-time reoccurrence benefit will be paid if you meet eligibility requirements.

Hospital Indemnity Insurance

Planned or unplanned, a trip to the hospital can be scary. It can be even more frightening to know that your health insurance probably won't cover all your costs. Hospital indemnity insurance can help cover unexpected out-of-pocket expenses, like copays, deductibles and out-of-network charges, as well as everyday living expenses. Here are the plan highlights:

  • Hospitalization due to childbirth, injury or illness — including COVID-19 and mental health — is covered. Regardless of your treatment costs or other health insurance you might have, the plan will pay you a fixed benefit for a hospital admission, each day of a hospital stay and days spent in a critical care unit.

  • Choose how to spend your benefit. Once your claim is approved, your benefit will be paid directly to you. It's your money, so you can use it to pay for anything you want, from medical bills to groceries, rent or childcare.

  • You'll get a break from paying your premium during a long hospital stay. If you are in the hospital for 30 days or more, your premium payment will be waived until the last day of the month you are discharged.
